The Other Face
Nasser Azizi
Aug 9 - Aug 16, 2024
Starting on Friday, August 9th, Ba Gallery will host a collection of paintings by Nasser Azizi. This exhibition, titled “The Other Side,” will be open to art enthusiasts until August 16th. In this collection, Azizi presents his latest series of portraits, created expressively and in smaller dimensions than his previous works. These paintings primarily explore the emotions and inner worlds of his subjects, now shared with viewers.
In this series, the artist transcends the outward appearance of his portraits, using creative visual elements to delve into the personal dimensions and characteristics of his subjects.
As in his previous works, Azizi adopts a free-form approach in both technique and character depiction, creating an ambiance that balances between reality and imagination. His portraits in this collection can be seen both as realistic references to those around him and as personal interpretations shaped by his observations and perceptions.
Nasser Azizi, born in 1970, holds a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in painting from the Faculty of Art and Architecture at Azad University. This exhibition marks his second collaboration with Ba Gallery. Azizi has previously held several solo exhibitions of his work.
Artists
Statement
In a series of his latest paintings, Nasser Azizi has created portraits in an expressive style and, unlike his other collections, on a smaller scale. These works primarily depict the emotions and inner worlds of his subjects, now presented before the viewer. The artist goes beyond merely reflecting the outer appearance of the portraits, using creative visual elements to explore the dimensions and personality traits of his subjects.
In these portraits, much like his previous paintings, Azizi employs a free and open expression both technically and in character depiction, creating a space that lies between reality and imagination. More precisely, these portraits can both reference the realistic aspects of people around him and be the result of the artist’s personal impressions from observing and understanding his environment.
