The Moment That It Was
Group Exhibition
Dec 27 - Jan 10, 2025
Starting on Friday, December 27th, Ba Gallery will host a group exhibition which is shaped by a focus on the details of everyday life, objects, humans, and the moments they create.
The Participating artists in the exhibition include: Azin Baghernia, Aida Pashakhanloo, Sara Pooyanfard, Sana Hadavi, Mahbod Hosseini and Raheleh Yousefi. In a part of the exhibition statement titled "That Moment That Was," Shahrzad Royaei writes: "Now that the boundary between photography and painting has become very faint, creating works with this theme is increasingly common. Among the artists whose works embody this approach is Gerhard Richter. In this collection, the moment is not only recalled through the presence of humans but sometimes the arrangement of objects in reality or imagination can also evoke that feeling in our present. A moment can sometimes be the sight of a train track from childhood that reaches into our dreams today. A moment when a pile of clothes in a corner takes us back to a difficult or easy time in the past or a dream of the future. Sometimes it’s a vase of love that is a gift for today, conjuring an ending from yesterday in our hearts. Moments always remain, even those that have been. Now, some of them are captured in a work."
Artists
Statement
Art for recording a moment is usually remembered with the art of photography, but what this exhibition is about is how to record a moment in the mind and inside each human being. Moments that bring the past to life in us with just one element. Now that the line between photography and painting has become very blurred, creating works with this theme is more common. Among the artists whose works have this approach, we can mention Gerhard Richter and, in some cases, David Hockney. In the upcoming collection, the moment is not remembered only by the presence of humans, and sometimes the way objects are arranged in reality or fantasy can also make the moment flow in our present. Sometimes a moment is watching a train track from our childhood that reaches our dreams today. A moment when the accumulation of clothes in a corner reminds us of a difficult or easy moment, or the wind blowing through a curtain brings an image of distant days to life with the same fragrance. Where we are sitting on the bed to get ready for work or a party, but our clothes or even the way we sit evokes a distant or familiar situation of the same form and space around us. Sometimes you are now in sadness and joy in memory and sometimes vice versa. Sometimes a vase of love that is a gift for today embodies the end of yesterday's love in our hearts. Moments always remain, even those that were. Now some of them have become a role in a work.
