The exhibition of Banafshe Ahmadzadeh at Ba gallery: A Comprehensive Contrast.
Jan 20, 2025
According to Honar Online, Banafshe Ahmadzadeh, a painter, illustrator, sculptor, and art curator, has participated in several group exhibitions and has won multiple awards in the field of illustration. Ahmadzadeh is a permanent member of the Illustrators Association.
In the statement for this exhibition, Banafshe Ahmadzadeh writes: "Two decades of illustration have taught me that contrast has been my starting point in image production. The first marks on paper and canvas, the dominance of point and line over the whiteness of the paper, shaped the contrast; however, constructing an image in service of a narrative diminished the efforts to organize points and lines. The audience, in search of a story, lost the pleasure of understanding the principles of the image. I consciously distanced myself from narrative to organize contrast in the image independently of storytelling. Geometry became a safe space for my explorations—a geometry in which I realized that a clumsy image carries a heavy burden of decoration. Architecture, especially Iranian architecture, serves as a rich reference for geometric forms in technical functionality. The works presented in this exhibition are a chosen path for organizing contrast in visual arts. The pieces on display represent a designerly exploration of geometric forms."
Banafshe Ahmadzadeh's exhibition titled "Contrast" will continue at the gallery until February 7th.
